Anniversary Week
Aug 25th, '08This week marks the official one year anniversary of our firm’s founding. It has certainly been a journey going from business plan to where we are today: established clientele that include leading brands and companies with front-page challenges.
Successful start-ups are difficult to breed, maybe even more so in times of economic strain. These days, public relations has been commoditized, and within our headquarters city of Washington, there is no shortage of practitioners of the profession. But the trend in our industry almost certainly favors boutiques rather than behemoths. The Fleishman’s and Edelman’s will always be successful by virtue of their size – they are too big at this point to fail.
There is a point of difference between these large, established agencies and smaller brands like our own. I am most pleased that clients have assigned value to our firm’s creativity and nimbleness, attributes uncommon to large enterprises in any industry. In an increasingly segmented media market, where communications programs must be custom-built and aimed at targeted consumers, reality favors the specialists instead of the generalists.
Our goals for the near-term are clear:
1) Position Gibraltar Associates to become one of the country’s premier communications boutiques
2) Recruit top tier talent to make good on our mission
3) Deliver superior results for our clients, who are our best evangelists and advertisers
We’re very bullish about the firm’s prospects headed into our second year. On September 9th we celebrate with our friends and clients the firm’s official 1-year anniversary. We thank everyone who has helped us to come so far.
